Events – The Porteño Quartet plays Piazzolla

The Tango is mystery and complexity, harmony and conflict, communication and loneliness, restlessness and search ….

New, interesting and engaging event, Sunday 16 November, at 18.30, at the Church of Sant’Antonio, for one of the last concerts of 30th Autunno Musicale of the Curci Association of Barletta, in collaboration with the municipality of Barletta, Apulia region and the Ministero per i Beni e le Attività Culturali.

On the stage will be the Porteño Quartet, Walter Bagnato on accordion, Marcello Rosa  cello, Ferdinand Zuddio piano and Paul Sergio on bass.
Four artists, two coming from the South and two from the North Italy, with different experiences and training that are able to blend in heartily their music features, in the strict sense and their artistic aptitudes, in the broadest sense, creating a world-class band that performs throughout Italy and abroad with unamimi votes and who has to his credit several recordings.
The purpose of the group is to disseminate the great Astor Piazzolla music through a reading and a deepening in a modern way, with the use of jazz harmonies and rhythms really engaging.
The evening will be devoted entirely to the great Astor Piazzolla, Argentine musician who certainly need no introduction, with a concert that celebrates the golden age of Argentine tango with a concert-spectacle that will see a performance of 4 musicians of the Porteño Quartet, consisting of accordion, piano, cello and double bass, which is a kind of distillation of traditional tango orchestra, where each of the components of the complex dance of great first half of the century is presented through the expressiveness of an essential solo instrument, which will perform some of tangos, Milongas and music among the most popular and known.
The genius of Piazzolla, capable of an extraordinary balance between emotions of popular harmonies and the intellectualism of classical music, the Quartet has refined instrument of artistic expression that can spread in the air the passionate notes with the unmistakable stamp of accordion, on which intertwine virtuoso cadences of the cello, with the dogged bass rhythm of piano and double bass. A musical tale that will express passionate love and physicality, transmitting unique emotions and unforgettable atmospheres, almost telling a sort of love story deep, ancient, cultivated over the years blossomed with overwhelming force and passion through the fast-paced and exciting of all his compositions. And so the concert will grow into sudden turns in jazz classical interludes, in songs that have to do with traditional tango, engaging the audience that can get carried away in the dense and charming atmosphere of the old re-newed to Milongas, genitally mutilated, in the elegant salón del centro, as well as in suburban go dancing.
